Goats
We started our herd with one pure bred doe, Kindness, a pure bred buck, Mr. Sir Prize, and two part-Pygmy does, Heidi and Ruby. We have decided not to breed any of the non-registered does again as we plan to build our herd of registered Pygmies. The goats are pictured in the order they were added to our farm.

Heidi was our first goat purchase. She came with a daughter, Wendy Darling’s mother, but when that doe rejected Wendy, we gave her away. Heidi is recovering well from recent surgery. We aren’t sure how old she is, but she will be retired from breeding now as she is only part Pygmy.

We bought Ruby shortly after Heidi. She had been a 4-H project that got left with the child’s grandmother, who sold her to us. Ruby has a fun personality and has a lot of Pygmy in her, but she isn’t full blooded.

Kindness was our first pure-bred Pygmy doe and the matriarch of our registered herd. We bought her from Hebron Farms. Sadly, Kindness died following a difficult birthing and subsequent emergency c-section. She stayed in the hospital two days but didn’t make it. Her baby Sebastian (scroll down to find him) lived, however his unnamed twin did not. You can read more about Kindness on the “In Memory” page.

We bought Sir Prize from Hoyt Farms. He has been an excellent buck and has fathered all the babies on Fulkerson Farms. He would love to be a lap goat if we would let him! He is very good natured and loves to be petted. If only he didn’t smell like a billy goat!

Wendy Darling (we just call her Wendy) was the first goat born on Fulkerson Farms. Her father is Mr. Sir Prize and her mother is no longer with us. Heidi is her grandmother. You can read more about Wendy’s history on the page of her adoptive mother, our Great Pyrenees, Andie.

Jophus is Heidi’s son and is half pure-bred Pygmy. He is one of our weathers and lives in the big boy pen with the other guys.

The twins, Aurora and Ariel, were the first pure bred Pygmies born at Fulkerson Farms. We hope to breed them with our new buck, Hundred Oaks Farms Justice (scroll down to find Justice), in October 2007. Below is a picture of the girls with their mother, Kindness, in April 2005, when they were just a few days old.

Georgie is Ruby’s first born and, like Jophus, is half pure-bred Pygmy. He is another one of our weathers and lives in the big boy pen.

Miss Lizzy was born to Kindness in April of 2006. Like her namesake from Pride & Prejudice, Miss Lizzy has a feisty spirit and is fun to watch. She is also the daughter of Mr. Sir Prize. Her brother, Mr. Darcy, lived only a few days, as he was born with fluid in his lungs and was unable to be saved. You can read more about him on the “In Memory” page.

Esmeralda is Wendy Darling’s first baby and is the great-granddaughter of Heidi. She is 3/4 pure bred Pygmy and is adorable.

Sebastian was Kindness’s parting gift to Fulkerson Farms. He is extremely spoiled and was raised in part by our miniature dachshund. (You can read more about that on the “Dogs” page.) He is also the son of Mr. Sir Prize.

The newest addition to Fulkerson Farms is Justice, who was purchased from Hundred Oaks Farms, which boasts the “most spoiled goats in Arkansas.” I’ve visited their farm and I can’t argue–their goats are spoiled and will crawl in your lap if you’ll let them! But they’re very sweet goats and the owners are incredibly nice people. We purchased Justice with the intent of him breeding Ariel, Aurora, and Miss Lizzy this fall, since our other two bucks, Mr. Sir Prize (their father) and Sebastian (their brother), are close relatives. Justice is all settled in at Fulkerson Farms and has already taken command of the big boy pen! You can see more pics of Justice on his page at the Hundred Oaks Farm site.
