New!

Here are pics of the latest additions to Fulkerson Farms, plus a few updates from some old faces:

Abu

Abu is the son of Ariel and Justice. He was born May 18, 2008. He will be registered with the National Pygmy Goat Association.

Blackie

Blackie, a Pygmy mix, is one of our refuge goats. She is a bit shy and wouldn’t hold still for me to take her picture.

Bullet

Miss “I’m too cute and adorable to potty outside,” a.k.a. Bullet, our blue & tan miniature dachshund — the real ruler of the roost at our place.

Chicken

One of the chickens we bought from the 2007 county fair. These chickens (we bought six) are very tame and love to be petted.

Chloe

Chloe is another goat given to us by a family who could no longer care for their goats. Her mother, Mama Red (pictured below), was pregnant with triplets when she was given to us. Chloe is very skittish and won’t let us pet her.

Mama Red

Mama Red is the coolest goat we’ve ever owned. She actually comes when I call her and will do anything for a slice of bread. She’s an excellent mother to her three daughters (pictured below). Mama Red and the triplets are the only goats we let out of the pen to browse, as none of the others willingly go back in the pen.

Triplets

Clockwise from front left: Merryweather, Fauna (in back), and Flora. If you recognize those names, yes, they’re named for the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty. These little girls are fairly friendly, even though they’ve been raised by their mother (Mama Red) and not bottle fed. Fauna is a bit shy, but the others come up to us and like to be petted.

Edie

Another “refuge goat,” Edie was given to us by the same family who once owned Blackie. Unfortunately, she was accidentally bred by a buck, “River Billy,” who lived on our farm for only a few short days (until he jumped the fence). He had belonged to Mama Red’s owners and now is on another farm. We’re not sure when Edie is due, but hopefully she will kid before the weather turns too hot. We like to have our babies born in April or May, but I’m thinking she’ll go another month.

Jasmine

Jasmine, daughter of Ruby & Mr. Sir Prize, is one of my bottle babies from last year. Ruby had mastitis and was unable to nurse. Sadly, Jasmine’s twin brother, Gaston, lived only one day.
